The Pearl’s Favorite Fall Festivities Around LA
Fall is full swing and the air is crackling with festive energy! Get your gemütlich game on and celebrate Oktoberfest at your favorite biergarten. The apple harvest is underway in Oak Glen, just a few hours from The Pearl. You can pick your own fruit and visit pumpkin patches at a number of family farms. And grab your camera for some leaf-peeping action – Oak Glen is a riot of fall colors that will make you feel like you’re in New England. Oct 26 Every year on the last Saturday before November 2nd, Hollywood Forever welcomes the community onto the cemetery grounds to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos – the Day of the Dead. One of Mexico’s most colorful traditional holidays, Dia de Los Muertos reunites and honors beloved ancestors, family and friends. More than 100 altars, created by members of the community in remembrance of their ancestors and loved ones, dot the grounds. Musical performances by Grammy Award winning recording artists entertain on five stages. An art exhibition in The Cathedral Mausoleum displays hundreds of original artworks. Food vendors from around Los Angeles, arts and crafts vendors, and a children’s arts project area round out the event. Hollywood Forever hosts the largest Dia de Los Muertos celebration in the United States, making it truly an experience to remember.
