The menu features the best of California’s ingredients from land and sea, embracing the seasons and presented in a shareable format. Openaire is offering a special four-course menu for $99/person for Valentine’s Day. Add $40 for wine pairing.

Located in the beautiful historic Hotel Normandie, Michelin-starred chef Gary Menes shares his unique culinary philosophy at Le Comptoir, featuring an 8-course vegetable-inspired tasting menu that showcases seasonal ingredients sourced from their very own organic kitchen garden and local farmer friends. Chef Menes challenges the notion of fine dining by doing away with white tablecloths and multiple sets of silverware in favor of an intimate, up-close-and-personal experience at Le Comptoir. From his 10-seat counter, he serves curious diners the same culinary lessons that have informed his singular approach as a chef.

 

 

TAME: Through a Magician’s Eyes

Feb 14 Magician and mentalist Blaise Serra is bringing a new, interactive, and intimate version of his solo show TAME: Through A Magician’s Eyes to the Ricardo Montalban Theatre. Blaise guides his audience through a journey centered around discovering magic and where to find it in the world around us. After encountering mind reading and sleight of hand that defies explanation from this frequent performer of the Hollywood Magic Castle, get ready to be a part of the show! Along with this evening of magic, enjoy the opening of ‘Apex Mirage,’ an art gallery by internationally acclaimed artist Marwan Shahin, in collaboration with Blaise. Following TAME, a meet-and-greet with these two artists will take place in the Montalban’s Mezzanine gallery.

Through Feb 23 LA Opera presents the world premiere of Eurydice. In the Greek myth, she was a shadowy figure we barely knew. Let’s change that. Matthew Aucoin partners with playwright Sarah Ruhl for a new opera that reimagines ancient mythology for a modern age. This time, the tale unfolds from the heroine’s point of view. (Finally, right?) Tragically killed on her wedding day, a young bride descends into the underworld, where she reconnects with her adoring father. Presented with the opportunity to return to her husband in the world of the living, she must choose between the two men she loves.

 

 

Frieze Art Fair

Feb 14 -16  Frieze Los Angeles returns to Paramount Pictures Studios to present the best of Los Angeles and international contemporary art by emerging and established artists, alongside a curated program of talks, films and artists’ projects in the backlot movieset at Paramount. Paramount’s Dining Room will be available for guests to enjoy with a special menu designed by Chef Ari Taymor from Little Prince LA. Frieze is a media and events company that comprises three publications and four international art fairs: Frieze London, Frieze LA, Frieze New York, and Frieze Masters.

Feb 13-16 Felix is a contemporary art fair co-founded by Dean Valentine, Al Morán & Mills Morán. Felix LA 2020 will showcase a diverse selection of 60 exhibitors, including galleries from China, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and the United Kingdom. For the first time, Felix LA will welcome Curator of Special Projects William J. Simmons, who will organize the on-site projects and programming, which range from installations and paintings to video and performance, installed throughout the hallways, ballrooms, bungalows, and lobbies of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

BreakUp Bar is taking over the neighboring space next to Severance Wine Bar for a two week pop up! Check out the-8 foot wall of broken relationships, a mini art exhibit of relics of Valentine’s Day past, and a 10 foot projection screen showing classic breakup movies of past and present. Menu will feature champagne, punches, and wine based cocktails along with a heavy amount of cakes, dessert fondues, cookie towers, and pretty much every sweet imaginable.

February 13 is Galentine’s Day Grab your girl crew and come on down for a special Galentine’s Day party and screening of First Wives Club. The night kicks off with an opening reception in the historic lounge featuring champagne, cheese and chocolate, followed by a movie screening. Galentine’s Day is a holiday Amy Poehler’s Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope created that occurs every year on Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. It’s like Valentine’s Day, only instead of celebrating the love you have for your significant other, you spend it with your best girlfriends. Everyone is welcome. Couples, singles and co-workers are encouraged to come.
